I'm still trying to find one. ;-) Lately, I've been given a lot of dance performance opportunities and I am beyond grateful for them! On top of that I also teach dance classes, and work various other "in between" jobs when the gigs aren't as frequent. It's not easy to find much down-time. Being in the entertainment industry is pretty much a 7 day a week kind of job. Even when I can come home for the day, my work is far from done. Sometimes there are still gigs to submit for, or choreography or lines to learn for an upcoming performance or audition. Or sometimes it's squeezing in a workout at 10pm.
Clearly this is one of the main reasons I haven't written a post in a while. But with Thanksgiving a couple days away and the winter holidays soon upon us I figured it was time for another post. First off, 2016 has been a very trying, and stressful year. There's been a lot of negativity all around and it sucks. I had to pack up my life and move to escape the negativity (that was not the only reason to return to my fave city and my second home, but a huge part of it)! And of course that didn't solve all my problems but it did create a more positive space for me to live in and, of course, way more performing opportunities.
Of course, there's still negativity, that's life, but I decided when I moved back to Los Angeles, to only focus and surround myself with positive, non-fake, people. I'm so grateful for the people I have had a chance to work with and perform with lately! It has definitely influenced me a a positive way. Even though sometimes the fakes and negative people still creep through, their influence is not nearly as strong now. I realize more now how great it is to have those positive people in your life. I guess if I have any advice to give on this it would be to surround yourself with people that are kind and true to themselves and other people. It doesn't matter if someone is good at their job or super talented. If they go around being liars and jerk, why would you want to deal with that? It's so not worth the suffering. So thank you to all who have influenced me positively. I am so thankful for you. And to all those who tried to influence me negatively, you only made me more aware of my strength and determination.
And to everyone, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
